Have you ever wondered how you can take your engagement session to the next level? Or how you could better tell your love story? This is what I live for! I want to help you find the perfect expression of who you are as a couple, and build an incredible memory at the same time. I work together with my couples to help them build the best experience possible. Creating a mood-board that is designed just for you!
Choosing the right location can be a bit overwhelming and is often overlooked. Looking outside the box, and not just considering options that are close to you, can open up a whole new world of opportunities! Realizing that your location selection is such an important part of your story can be a game changer. The perfect setting can help set the stage for the story you want to tell as a couple, as well as provide a sneak peek to your wedding guests of what’s to come!
Selecting a location that has significance, such as where you “said yes” or where you had your most beautiful hike, can be a great place to start when making your list of possible locations. I am also a huge fan of the natural beauty the world has to offer! Creating a dreamy engagement session exploring a place you have never been, but have always wanted to visit together, creates such a perfect memory! Choose your location with intention!
What you choose to wear during your session is equally important as your location. You should coordinate your outfits to match the feel and mood of your location. For example, wearing a long-flowing, lightweight dress creates both movement and a feminine romance. How stunning that would be in a garden or mountaintop setting! And likewise, a sheer blouse with cigarette pants and heels would be killer in the city of Manhattan.
Bringing between two-three outfit selections will provide variety to your session as well. Who doesn’t love more options? I often get asked what colors and patterns to select. The beauty of film photography is how it can bring a classic feel to any photo. I love a neutral, textural wardrobe in the snow just as much as I adore photographing a red dress during golden hour.

Possibly the most important advice I have to share is to have fun! Make it a memory that you can look back on. Something only the two of you can share. Photography is such an important part of your history. I am such a big advocate of living life. Enjoying where we are. Right now. In this moment.
A fun tip I have, is to plan a weekend getaway around your session. Book a fun cabin in the mountains or a posh hotel in the city. Go out to dinner afterwards in your fancy outfits, or hit a farmer’s market on the Sunday after the shoot. Do it up! The more fun you are having, the more authentic and special your session will feel.
I hope you enjoyed these tips on how to plan the perfect engagement session! I’ve been working with couples for nearly a decade, and these are just a few of the things I’ve picked up along the way. Congratulations on this beautiful time in your lives, and enjoy every second of it!
